1977 The Detroit Chinese Alliance Church was established in 1977, beginning with a few couples meeting under the leadership of Herman Tang, Carpus Yip and Peter Chu and their wives. The three brothers were all studying at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago, and they traveled back and forth every weekend as part of the pioneering process of planting a new church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In June 1979 Pastor C. C. Hoh began to serve as the senior pastor. In October of the following year, he returned to Canada. After that, Pastor Samuel Mok of the Windsor Chinese Alliance Church came to help this fledgling ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In October 1981 Pastor Daniel Chen, his wife Ann, and their family came to the United States from Taiwan and began to serve in the church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1982 The church was officially established on April 4 and named the Metro Detroit Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance Church (MDCAC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1984 After Pastor Daniel Chen became the senior pastor, the church launched many ministries, such as adult Sunday school, children’s Sunday school, fellowship groups, choirs, Chinese schools, Sunday lunch programs, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1987 Due to the increase in the number of members, under the guidance of God, MDCAC purchased its first church in Troy in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1989 The church obtained a loan from the Alliance Development Fund and began to purchase a new church building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In June 1991 After the church had its own building, the number of believers began to increase rapidly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1995 Brother Daniel Shen graduated from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and became the church’s assistant pastor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1996 After fifteen years of faithful service, Pastor Daniel Chen officially retired and became a pastor emeritus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In September 1997, Daniel Shen was officially appointed as the senior pastor. At the same time, Gideon Tsang began to serve as a youth pastor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1998 Pastor Daniel Chen was called back to the Lord. Brother David Chang felt God’s call to full-time ministry and became part of the church’s preaching rotation. Two Chinese worship services began in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In October 1999, the expansion of the church building began, with the expansion area being 40% of the original area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In March 2001, the building expansion project was completed and officially opened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In July 2010, Pastor Karsun Wong accepted God’s call to serve as the pastor of the Cantonese ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In July 2014, Pastor Robert Burns accepted God’s call to serve as the pastor of the English ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In January 2025, Pastor Biao Pan accepted God’s call to serve as the pastor of the Mandarin ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The MDCAC has grown from a small parish to a vibrant local community of believers with a clear vision for growth and expansion. It actively establishes new churches to expand its influence and sends members\u2014brothers and sisters in Christ\u2014to spread the gospel abroad. The church is also committed to developing disciples through teaching, mentoring, and discipleship programs to promote spiritual growth. Whether through local involvement, international missions, or forming believers in their faith journey, this church continues to help more people come to know God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
